About Us

The Story of Interfaith Caregivers

For more than 25 years Interfaith Caregivers has been helping seniors in our community maintain their independence by providing free transportation, errand-running and casual companionship. We are a nonsectarian, nonprofit organization supported completely by charitable donations. Our volunteers serve clients who live in Haddonfield and Haddon Heights, in addition to members of churches in Haddonfield and Haddon Heights who live in contiguous communities (Audubon, Barrington, Bellmawr, Cherry Hill, Haddon Township, Lawnside, Mt. Ephraim).

gaultInterfaith Caregivers was founded in 1990 by physician Joan Gault, who vowed to address the “senior mobility crisis” after a colleague missed a meeting because she could no longer drive. Dr. Gault raised community support, established a Board of Trustees and recruited volunteers to establish Interfaith Caregivers. That year the organization served 80 clients. While we have grown substantially since then, and now serve more than 300 clients per year, Dr. Gault’s vision of neighbors helping neighbors through acts of kindness continues to guide our efforts.

Our office is located in the small caretaker’s house behind Haddonfield Borough Hall. We are open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 pm.
